Job Description:
The Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bakery to ensure high standards of customer service, food quality, cleanliness, and staff performance. This role involves managing team members, managing production schedules, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The Bakery Manager acts as a key leader and point of contact for staff and customers. The Bakery Manager reports directly to the Area Manager, working closely with them to hit financial goals, supporting staff training and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
Oversee daily front-of-house and back-of-house operations, including production schedule for satellite locations
Ensure smooth workflow, timely food preparation, and quality service
Open and/or close the restaurant, following proper procedures
Ensure smooth, consistent daily operations
Maintain quality and consistency in food, beverage, and service
Keep the restaurant clean, safe, and well-stocked at all times
Problem-solve efficiently and calmly during peak hours or emergencies
Staff Management
Oversee daily team task management, including daily prep lists and cleaning duties
Supervise and support team performance and development
Conduct staff meetings, evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed
Handle staff call outs, helping with finding shift coverage or providing coverage yourself
Lead by example in professionalism, work ethic, and attitude
Motivate and support staff to perform at their best
Address conflicts or issues quickly, fairly, and respectfully
Be present and engaged during shifts visible and approachable to the team
Training & Development
Ensure all team members are properly trained for their roles
Uphold all health and safety training standards
Hold regular check-ins or performance reviews when appropriate
Customer Service
Maintain a positive customer experience by ensuring prompt, friendly service
Handle complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner
Monitor dining area for cleanliness, service flow, and guest satisfaction
Financial Oversight
Assist in budgeting, cost control, and forecasting in tandem with the Area Manager
Monitor sales and labor reports
Ensure efficient use of inventory and control waste
Control labor and food costs within budget targets
Inventory and Ordering
Order food, beverages, and supplies as needed
Conduct weekly inventory counts
Ensure proper storage and labeling of all inventory
Health & Safety Compliance
Ensure adherence to local health, safety, and sanitation standards
Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas of the restaurant
Professionalism & Accountability
Show up on time, in uniform, and prepared
Maintain composure and professionalism even under pressure
Take ownership of successes and setbacks alike
Communication
Keep clear communication with Area Manager/Upper Management
Share updates, policies, and goals with staff regularly
Be available and responsive via phone, text, or email during operating hours
Provide honest, constructive feedback to team members
Key Requirements
Minimum of 2 years management experience, preferably with a background in production baking
1 to 2 years baking experience, preferably work with leavened dough
40 hour work week, with possibility of overtime if needed
Ability to stand for long periods, walking and lifting up to 50 lbs while on shift
Night and weekend shifts
Compensation:
$25-$26/hour
