Perform electrical duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, state, and federal environmental regulations.

Essential Duties

• Performs job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, state, and federal environmental regulations.
• Performs electrical inspections on all in-service mining equipment and records repairs and findings into federal inspection book.
• Maintains & repairs low, medium, and high voltage electrical circuits.
• Installs/removes power cable from high voltage mining circuits.
• Performs troubleshooting on AC and DC circuits.
• Repairs, maintains, and troubleshoots DC motor and generator circuits on mining equipment.
• Operates mining support equipment.

Other Duties

• Operates the equipment to diagnose problems and to test after repair.
• Operates light vehicles to travel throughout the mine site.
• Maintains work area in a safe and clean manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and instructions, and electrical prints and schematics.
• Knowledge of National Electric Code, MSHA regulations.
• Knowledge of basic electrical theory.
• Knowledge of high voltage switchgear and be able to safely operate it.
• Knowledge of basic electrical test instruments.
• Knowledge of PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives.
• Obtain MSHA Electrical Certification becoming a Qualified Person - able to perform electrical work in a mine after 1 year of work experience.
• Communicate and work well with co-workers, supervision, and management.

Required Education And Training

• Electrical technical training at a vocational school or an electrician apprenticeship.
• Possess MSHA Electrical Certification or be able to obtain it within the required time.
