Job Title: Painter
Job Description

As a painter, you will prime, paint, and touch up vehicles using power spray equipment and brushes. You will ensure specifications are met by masking, unmasking, or adjusting masking as necessary. Your role also includes cleaning and conditioning parts, performing light bodywork, and disassembling, cleaning, repairing, and reassembling painting equipment for proper operation.

Responsibilities

• Flush tanks, hoses, and guns prior to color changeovers.
• Mix all types of paints for proper color, formula, conditions, viscosity, and consistency.
• Perform titrations and mix or adjust chemicals as necessary in paint, zinc, or other processes.
• Apply decals, stencils, and rust-proofing as required.
• Maintain the work area and equipment, including performing preventative maintenance tasks.
• Inspect the product before, during, and after the paint process to ensure specifications are met.
• Transport, move, or guide parts, subassemblies, or assemblies before, during, or after the paint process and to the next operation, which may include moving racks or carts by hand or using material handling equipment such as a forklift or overhead crane.

Essential Skills

• 6+ months of painting experience in automotive or heavy vehicle/equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, or automotive body shop.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.

• 1+ year of painting experience in automotive or heavy vehicle/equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, or automotive body shop.

Full-time employees are eligible for a sign-on bonus of $1,500, distributed at intervals over the first year of employment. Work Environment

The work environment includes inside paint booths with a strong paint odor and a hot atmosphere. Painters are required to wear a full paint suit and respirator; therefore, candidates should not have facial hair to ensure proper respirator fit. The dress code includes jeans, steel-toe shoes, and a clean work shirt. The current workforce in the weld department is 300 employees, with a goal to reach 400 for full staffing. Minimal overtime is expected initially, with hours increasing to approximately 40-45 hours per week once fully staffed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $47320.00 - $54912.00/yr.

Sign On Bonus: Eligible for full time employees (Contractors would be eligible upon conversion)

$500 @ 3 months of employment
