We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Hydrovac Operator to join our team in locating underground facilities using non-destructive excavation methods. The ideal candidate will have experience operating hydrovac trucks in urban, rural, and industrial environments and possess a strong understanding of utility maps, ground conditions, and safe digging practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate hydrovac trucks to safely expose underground utilities that are not traceable by conventional locating equipment.

• Read and interpret utility maps, drawings, and site plans to guide excavation efforts.

• Work closely with utility locators, site supervisors, and project managers to identify target excavation areas.

• Ensure proper setup of vacuum and water systems, pressure levels, and debris containment for precise excavation.

• Maintain daily logs of excavation activity, soil conditions, findings, and safety checks.

• Adhere to all safety procedures, industry regulations, and company policies.

• Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of hydrovac equipment and maintain overall vehicle cleanliness

• Work in varying environments and weather conditions with a focus on safety and efficiency.

• Represent the company professionally while interacting with clients, contractors, and the public.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED; technical training is an asset.

• Valid CDL (Class A) with a clean driving record.

• Proven experience operating hydrovac equipment (minimum 1–2 years preferred).

• Understanding of utility locating processes and challenges associated with undetectable mains/services.

• Knowledge of ground conditions, soil types, and safe excavation depths.

• Strong commitment to safety and compliance.

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in confined spaces, and stand for long periods.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
