Our dedication to the finest quality soups began in the 1970’s. Ma was a little girl then and spent many happy hours in her families’ kitchens with her grandmother, mother and aunts, learning the skills needed to produce the best tasting soups from her families long loved recipes, handed down for generations.
It was during those early years that Ma developed an appetite for old world methods and quality ingredients.
Fast forward a couple decades and you would find Ma in her own kitchen cooking for her own family, bringing with her that passion for making only the best of the best, after all, only the best was good enough for her family!
While growing up in our cold Canadian winters, I remember coming home to the wonderful aromas of a steaming pot of delicious comforting soup on the stove top. My friends were always dropping by and were often offered a bowl. Your ma’s soup is the best!” they would tell me.
While operating her own corporate catering company many years ago, it became apparent that Ma’s soup was a hot commodity! People were calling in by 9am to reserve their bowl of the daily soup offering for lunch, not wanting to miss out if they were too late and Ma sold out.
When I grew up, I knew I wanted to share these fine soups with many more people. I started selling my Ma’s best soups in farmers’ markets and eventually was asked by fine food establishments if they could carry my ma’s soups in their stores.
Today we operate Ma’s Best Foods Inc. and produce Ma’s Best Soups keeping the same fine traditions, quality ingredients, and slow cooking method, that Ma taught us!
Available at fine grocers and cafes across Ontario. Now you too can offer the best to your family, just by opening a jar and heating.
