    JOB MISSION:

    The New Balance Merchandising Associate is responsible for the overall merchandising direction for Apparel. The Merchant will work with the Merchandise Manager to determine the strategy of the product with the goal of meeting or exceeding sales, gross margin and turn budget and exceeding customer expectations. This role owns the Financial P&L for the departments and is responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams to accomplish their part of the financial and strategic goals. As the Merchant, you will create product assortments and buy plans that meet customer need by incorporating competitive intelligence, customer insight and business analysis. It will be critical for the Merchant to provide in-season trend analysis and real time forecasting to ensure inventory is aligned with trend of the business. The Merchant should have a clear understanding of the buying process, inventory flow and distribution along with specific attention to managing all aspects of the product life-cycle. This role reports into the Senior Merchandise Manager and is part of the North American eCommerce team.

    MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • With direction from the Merchant and Senior Merchandise Manager, conduct market research, gather industry data, track trends, themes and competitive shopping to assist with item selection • Maintain assortment planner with detailed launch timing, communicate regularly with the Global and Supply teams to ensure most up to date info. • Relay any updates to Planning & Site teams promptly • Run financial and site metric ad hoc reports and complete analysis as needed, utilize to explain the “why” around the business and not just the “what” • Partner with Site Merch and Marketing teams to proof all collateral to ensure content is correct and reflects in stock items • Review competitors shopping experiences to identify trends, new product ideas, notable presentations and pricing discrepancies • Plan promotions together with the Merchant and partner with the Planner to review forecasts • Maintain promo spreadsheets with all correct information and changes, enter them into the promotional tickers, and execute all promotions flawlessly with the Site Ops & Merch teams • Submit and manage any IT and Ops tickets. Work with those teams on system or product errors seen or improvements needed • Process price changes and any inventory transactions needed (orders, RTVs, transfers)

    REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

    • Bachelor's degree with Buying or Site Merchandising experience • Aggressive and proactive attitude to solve problems and win at all levels • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills • Exposure to Adobe or Google Analytics preferred • Excellent time management skills • Demonstrated organizational skills • Ability to work in a fast paced and high-pressure environment • Ability to work independently and to multi-task prioritiesBoston, MA Headquarters - (NB) Only Pay Range: $68,470.00 - $87,780.00 - $107,090.00 Annual (actual base pay varying based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, geographic location, and more.)
